The presentation linked above does a good job linking Math Practice standards to common classroom/learning issues students and teachers might have. Taking a challenging problem and making it procedural is certainly a mistake that I continue to make as I struggle to get my students to think more.

I thought this document might be good to read over as we consider what Math Practice Standards we should focus on as a PLC.

      • Sometimes a physical paper prevents us from accurately representing the art that is taking place in the classroom.

      • Students being able to think and problem solve. We need to ask higher order questions to our students. Work that requires our students to explain their work and/or thoughts. Evidence that they have a clear understanding of the topic.
